• Alert – The Danger of Gap Bands to Close Space

The world wide web places information about everything right at our fingertips. You can find instructions on how to do just about anything, even minor orthodontics. Unfortunately, those instructions rarely review the risks and potential negative sequelae.  Case in point is this blog post from the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Believe it or not, a rubber band placed around the front teeth to close a space can migrate towards the root and become embedded underneath the gum. In the case shown in the blog post, the patient actually lost their front teeth from this. This is just one example of potential negative consequences of “self remedies” for orthodontic problems. At bare minimum, it never hurts to have a complimentary consultation to see if orthodontic treatment is right for you.

  • Humphries Orthodontics Wins the City of Artesia Beautification Award

    City Award

Did you know that Humphries Orthodontics just recently won the City of Artesia beautification award for our office in Artesia. Above is a photo of Erica accepting our award at a recent city council meeting.

We are very proud to have won this award considering all the work that has been put into our office since remodeling in the Spring of 2012. Please check out our beautiful plaque in the reception area of our office. Again, we would like to thank the City of Artesia for recognizing our office!

Our office is open for your care

Per the recommendations of public health officials, we have implemented the following measures to ensure the continued health and well-being of our patients and team members.

• All patients and the parent or guardian accompanying them will be screened for COVID-19
• Our office has separators between chairs to ensure our patients’ safety
• Face masks are required for all persons entering the office
• We have eliminated items that could promote cross contamination from the office
• We are making every effort to limit the number of people that enter the office, and have marked off our reception area so as to promote social distancing
• We are using the highest strength virucide with a double disinfection technique after each appointment
• All clinical personnel are wearing a Level 3 or higher designated masks with eye protection
Finally, we insist that any patient that has been diagnosed with, exposed to, or shows symptoms of COVID-19, reschedule their appointment.

With the current understanding of the COVID-19 and the aforementioned procedural changes, we are confident that we can deliver high quality patient care and a great patient experience while ensuring the safety of our patients and team.
